Praying for a Friend

I just found out that a very good friend's dad just passed away from a massive heart attack.

I mourn with him.

THAT is exactly why I work in cardiac rehab. To keep people from having to experience pain like this.

I love ya, Goose.

Well, Thanks for Checking

Yellowhed: "Ooo, there's a zit on your back. Let me get it."

*squeezes so hard I start to bleed and my right leg goes numb*

Yellohed: "Nope. It's not ready yet."

Back to Math Class

As of tomorrow, my extended break is officially over.

Back to grad school, and back to papers till 2am. Despite the workload, I'm actually looking forward to this semester's classes though. I start up with yet another statistics class tomorrow (making this my 6th stats class), but I've slowly grown to appreciate it.

Nothing like good ol' multiple linear regression analysis to help you appreciate the finer things in life.

Aside from being a fake math nerd though, here's a little bit of what else has been going on lately:

I've still been doing a lot of hiking, and found this bird's nest made out of snake skin the other day.

I'm sure there's a Bible lesson here, somewhere.
I'm attempting to do a little bit of leather work...

I'm secretly making a Russian hat and shoes. Don't tell Yellowhed. I wanna wear it next time I see her folks.
I just bought a tin whistle...

Titanic theme song. Done.

I've become addicted to Ticket to Ride...

And...I just got back from the Mid-West, where dogs are dressed in sweaters.

Amazon, I Love You

Just in case you didn't believe me when I said that college bookstores are a bunch of crooks, here's my textbook list for this upcoming semester. What the bookstore wanted is in black, and what I got it for on Amazon is in red.

Statistics for Research (3rd ed.) 93.15 - 66.64
Food Safety (12th ed.) 99.30 - 37.43
Jossey Bass Handbook of Non-profit Leadership Management 100.20 - 57.35
Starting and Managing a Non-profit Organization 60.00 - 16.44

USE AMAZON.
If you're a broke grad school/undergrad student (like me), this is the way to go. I've easily saved at least $2000 over the course of my school career by ordering all of my textbooks off Amazon.

This is What Retired People Feel Like

School is out, and it feels weird.

No papers, no textbooks, no case studies, no emails, no anything.

I have free time for the first time since before kindergarten. Literally.

I've spent it making this.

It cracked pretty badly (stupid oak), but it's coming along pretty nicely, I think. It was a nice way to just kind of relax and be productive at the same time. Here's some of the other things that I've been up to the past few weeks (during school).

I've gotten the chance to hike some pretty awesome mountains over the past couple of weekends...

I've tested my balance when my hiking trips led me to the wrong side of the stream...

I rediscovered the bench where I dropped the "L" word (love) on Yellowhed...

Annnnnd, I've learned how to make some pretty awesome homemade granola bars, if I do say so myself.
